Benefits To Canada and Nepal
This product will provide benefits to the people of Nepal and economic benefits to the people and businesses of Canada and in particular British Columbia.
Benefits to NepaleseThis product will benefit the people of Nepal that are in the higher altitude regions or are without power. The higher altitude regions of Nepal have poor infrastructure, only 30% of the rural population of Nepal has access to electricity (WorldBank, 2011). The higher altitude regions the most common crops grown are Barley, Buckwheat and Potatoes as seen on the statistics provided by the Nepalese Government (Government of Nepal, 2013). Grain crops such as Barley and Buckwheat are very deficient in Vitamin A and so are potatoes (Dietitians of Canada, 2014). Providing a solar dehydrator will allow the people of the higher altitude regions to go to the lower regions, buy an abundance of fruits and vegetables, then dehydrate them and store them for long periods of time.

Benefits to CanadiansThe benefits to Canadians will not be as noticeable as those for the Nepalese. The project is not on an extremely large scale but will support local businesses in British Columbia and possibly creating a few small jobs in the forestry and production sector.
